Obituary of Steven Lynn Rhodey

Steve Rhodey “Pops” age 65 of Clinton, TN passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at his home. Steve loved spending time with his grandkids and family. He also loved “MeMe” his buddy! Steve played softball for 25 years, was a TSSAA umpire for high school baseball, softball, and referee for little league and high school basketball. He enjoyed watching his son play football with the Optimist and Clinton High School. Steve enjoyed dirt track racing. He took care of the Sunday music for WYSH, and was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church in the Marlow community. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, William and Velma Rhodey; wife, Jeanne Rhodey; and brother, William “Billy Rhodey. Steve is survived by his son, Jason Rhodey and wife, Carisa of Clinton, TN; daughters, Dessie Troyna and husband, Dean of Andersonville, TN, Jessica Rhodey of Clinton, TN; brothers, Charles Rhodey and wife Carolyn of Oliver Springs, William Rhodey and wife, Linda of Oak Ridge, TN, Randall Rhodey and wife, Susie of Oak Ridge, TN; sister, Connie Hurley of Clinton, TN; grandchildren, Amanda, Elizabeth, Abbigail, Joeson (Jo Jo), and his fur grandbabies, “Smokey & Bob”. Steve also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends. Steve’s family will receive his friends on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm with his funeral service to follow at 8:00 pm at Poplar Creek Baptist Church in the Marlow community with Rev. Luke Kidwell and Rev. Mark Akers officiating. Steve’s interment will be Monday, July 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Poplar Creek Baptist Church cemetery in the Marlow community with full military honors. Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN is in charge of all arrangements.
