I will always remember learning to read as a little kid by sitting on your lap while you were reading the newspapers! . Thank you for giving me the love of reading. There are lots of good memories of my childhood that I still smile about today. The memories of you buying mine and Lisas first bikes. Teaching me to ride. Letting me sit on your lap as you were reading the Nrwspapers, I had taught myself to read. I thank you for giving me the love of reading....You letting all of us play in your boat out in the creek when it would flood, those were fun memories. And of course when you would ''dam up'' the creek for us too have a 'swimming hole'' to swim in. These memories amd sooo many more are what makes my heart full of love for you. And for teaching me to be so humble and kind and that no matter where the path in life takes me to '' NEVER forget where I came from.' . I miss you more than you could know. I think of you every single day!!

Papaw:
Tears ran down,
When I saw you that way.
My heart broke a little more,
Each and every day.
As the tears built up,
And ran down my face.
I knew you'd soon be,
In a happier place.
Your battle is over now,
No tears on your cheek.
No more pain or suffering,
You are no longer weak.
I dont understand why,
This had to happen to you.
But i'm proud of you Papaw,
The greatest man I ever knew.
You're in Heaven now,
So spread your wings out wide.
Wrap them around me,
When you see me cry.
I have all these memories,
From all the things we did.
Starting from when,
I was just a kid.
You made growing up,
So happy and fun.
I love you Papaw,
Your very proud grandson...

I think the story that my nephew Aaron wrote about my dad kinda sums him up for me. I am sharing his story.
A warrior has fallend today.
He was an Army veteran.
He was a veteran of the Second World War.
He served in the Pacific Theater.
Over 60 years had passed since then and yet his stories were still crisp and clear. Time had passed and wrinkles had grown upon his skin.
But the heart of a warrior still lie beneath his chest.
His eyes had seen things that most have only seen in movies.
Everything is quiet out this way. Appreciating the time spent with this man, For a warrior has fallen today. 90 years spent upon this earth. Tuesday 4/2 he will receive full military honors for his service to this nation. This man is Samuel McMahan. This man is my dad. He was a super great grandfather, and he will be greatly missed by all. Love You Dad, Ginnie

i was thinkin about the time you loaded us kids and our kids in your big ole boat and took us across norris lake to an island for camping...most of us had babies and you was steering that ole boat and whistling and grinning and none of us was thinking about not having life jackets or what if the waves that kept hitting us and coming over the side of the boat sunk us...not a care in the world...cause we was in good hands daddy...we had the best time with you...I love you and will see you in Heaven....
