Obituary of Selina Overstreet Bates

Selina Anna Overstreet – Bates age 58 of Oak Ridge, TN passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.  Selina was larger than life.  She was a very giving person and thought of others before herself.  Selina never met a stranger and everyone loved her.  She was a collector of many things and will be missed dearly.  Selina was preceded in death by her father, Lee Carl Thompson.

Selina is survived by her husband, Gary Bates and her mother, Gladys Thompson both of Oak Ridge, TN; sons, Michael Overstreet (Mary) and Clinton Stepp all of Knoxville, TN; stepdaughter, Brittany Bates (Billy Schlott); brother, David Lewis (Joyce) of Kingston, TN  and sister, Carla Lingerfelt of Knoxville, TN, brother -in-law, Benny Bates (Gloria) of Kingston, TN and sister-in-law, Judy Parker of Sanford, FL; grandchildren, Bradlee Stepp, Julia & Logan Overstreet; step grandchildren, Violet & Henry Schlott, several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Selina’s family will receive her friends from 9:30am – 11:00am on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN with her Celebration of Life immediately following in the Chapel of Jones Mortuary with Rev. Larry Noe officiating.  Selina’s graveside service and interment will immediately follow her celebration at Kingston Memorial Gardens in Kingston, TN.  Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN is in charge of all arrangements.
