Obituary of Helen Maxine James
Helen Maxine James better known as Maxine, age 85 of Powell, TN passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN. She loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maxine enjoyed drawing and going to Dollywood. She loved her church at Edgemoor Baptist in Claxton where she was a member and singing in the choir until she wasn’t able to. She loved studying the Bible and said that God was her strength every day and in all her struggles.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Iva Johnson; husbands, Dewey James Yarber and George James; brothers, Aubrey Johnson, Eugene Johnson, Garnett Johnson, Vernon Larue Johnson, Floyd Johnson, Harlan Johnson; and sister, Mary Alice Robbins.
Maxine is survived by her children, Ginger Dalton and husband, Samuel of Johnson City, TN, Dewey S. Yarber and wife, Elizabeth of Clinton, TN, and Audrey Bryan and husband, Bill of Karns, TN; brothers, Edward Johnson of Kingston, TN, and Oscar Norris Johnson and wife, Lucy of Arizona; sisters, Marie Guy of Clinton, TN, and Liz Huebner and husband Bob of Clinton, TN; grandchildren, Joshua N. Dalton (Cortnie) of Johnson City, TN, Matthew L. Dalton (Maggie) of Johnson City, TN, Erin L. Dalton of Johnson City, TN, T. Cody Yarber of Clinton, TN, and Jonathan Bryan of Karns, TN; great grandchildren, Anslie F. Pinkston and Arlo N. Dalton. Maxine also leaves behind whom she was a God Parent to Wayne and Carolyn Huckaby’s sons; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses whom had taken great care of Maxine in ICU at Methodist Medical Center.
Maxine’s family will receive her friends from 1:00pm – 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 7, 2018 with her funeral service to follow at 3:00pm with Pastor David Crutchfield officiating in the chapel of Jones Mortuary in Clinton. Maxine’s interment will follow her funeral service at Black Oak Baptist Church cemetery in Clinton, TN. Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN is in charge of all arrangements.
