Obituary of Emogene Nelson
Emogene Nelson age 83 of Oak Ridge, TN went to be with the Lord peacefully on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at her residence. She was a wonderful homemaker, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, and loved spending time with her family. Emogene enjoyed quilting. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church in Andersonville, TN. She was a graduate of Norris High School, and worked for Southern Bell as a switchboard operator for about 12 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Oakley Melton; sister, Betty M. Snapp; husbands, Wayne Gallati, and Paul Nelson.
She is survived by her mother, Estella C. Melton of Andersonville, TN; sons, William (Bill) Atterson & wife Lucretia, and Chris Atterson; sisters, Evelyn Hutchison, Janice Wetherington, Connie Murray and husband Gene, Cheryl Aslinger & husband Lon ; grandchildren, John Atterson & wife Elaine, Michael Atterson & wife Dea, Brittany Tipton & husband Josh, Oakley Atterson, Sara Roberts & husband Josh, and Emily Atterson
Emogene also leaves behind 7 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Emogene's family would like to thank the staff of Greenfield Senior Living Center and Caris Hospice for their loving kindness and care they shown Emogene while she was under their care.
Emogene's family will receive her friends on Friday, October 26th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with her celebration of life following at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with Bro. Archey Corder and Bro. Stephen Gooch officiating. Her interment will be Saturday, October 27th at 11:00 am at the Norris Memorial Gardens in Norris, TN. Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN is in charge of all arrangements.
