I served with Mike in the TANG. We worked very closely together for nearly twenty years. He is someone that could be counted on, and always took on his responsibilities seriously and completed every mission.
We had so many good times together, and there are so many stories. I want to share one story. We were at The National Training Center in the desert in California. Mike hurt his foot and couldn't wear his boots without a lot of pain. He was allowed to wear tennis shoes for a few days, and is was Impossible not to make jokes about it, especially since it was not long after the Forrest Gump movie was released. Everyone was calling him Forrest, and he laughed along as well. Run Forest Run!
He had a sense of humor and was a very capable soldier. He had come into our unit after serving with the 101st airborne, and brought new tactical initivities to the 3/5 platoon.
He was a hoot and always had a Mountain Dew with him. We were heavily involved in jump farps in the TANG, and had a lot of fun moving the farp(forward air and refueling points). One day we jumped 8 times. He was always dependable.
Soldiers are like brothers, and we will miss brother Mike.

God rest your soul Sgt. Mike Sexton, Today I have looked back at so many things that I remember about you. You were a team player and a good friend on top of that, Dependable, ready at all times to do business in what ever way it was needed. A crack shot with an M-16 rifle, expert every time. I could go on and on about you but all that knew you know your story, they to could go on and on about you and in the coming days they will. So my friend for now on we will always remember you and all the good times as soldiers and friends that we had together and we will never forget your impeccable service to the Army National Guard, the United States Army and the citizens of our beloved nation. RIP Brave Warrior.

It's strange, looking at Mike's picture and trying to come to terms with the reality that he is gone. I did not know him personally, face to face, but I still knew and respected him. He is already greatly missed. Bill, Heather and the rest of the Sexton family, my deepest condolences. We have lost a great man. May he rest in eternal peace.

My prayers are with Mike's family during this difficult time. I worked with Mike at UPS and have known him for many years. There was a time several years ago when we worked directly together and we would talk about politics, relationships, personal things we have dealt with in our lives, etc. Mike was easy to talk to and always listened and tried to help any way he could. He was also my son's mentor when he worked at UPS for the time he was there. Such a good guy that was taken too soon. RIP Sexton!
