Obituary of Amon Murphy

Amon (AP) Murphy age 78 of Clinton, TN passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. “AP” enjoyed drag racing, and driving a tour bus. He was a member of Edgemoor Baptist Church and a 50 year member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #160 and a Past Master. “AP” had worked at NHC in Farragut, TN for 7 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Opal Murphy. “AP” is survived by his wife, Nancy Murphy of Clinton, TN; sons, Jeff Murphy (Rachel) of Crab Orchard, TN, Ronnie Murphy of Dyllis, TN, Bryan Rigney (Amy) of Oliver Springs, TN; sister, Pernia Sharp of Powell, TN; grandchildren, Luke Murphy, Beth Murphy, Ronnie Rigney, Rena Rigney; aunts, Edith Murphy of Somerset, KY, Clora Murphy of Pine Knot, KY; niece, Lisa Pruitt (Dean) and their son, Chad of Pikeville, NC. He also leaves behind a special cousin, Ronnie Murphy of Strunk, KY, numerous cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. AP’ s family will receive his friends on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm with his celebration of life to follow at 8:00 pm all in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with Rev. Rick Miller officiating. AP’s interment will be 11:00 am on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton with full military honors. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 223 Rosa L. Parks Avenue, Suite 301, Nashville, TN 37203. Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN is in charge of all arrangements.
