Obituary of Mollie Powell
Mollie D. (Bennett) Powell 99, of Clinton went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 29, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her family. Mollie was saved at an early age at Liberty Baptist Church in Clinton. Mollie loved her family. She loved working in her yard. She had a vegetable garden every year until her health declined. Mollie was the youngest of 10 siblings, and grew up in the Dossett community. Mollie retired from Oak Ridge Hospital. Mollie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years: Ernest Powell, Parents: William and Margaret Bennett, sisters: Barbra Gailbreath, Alice Martin, Katherin Rittenhouse, Marie Dishman; Brothers: Owen Bennett, Jessie Bennett, Floyd Bennett, Roy Bennett, Jack Bennett, and, Granddaughter: LeeAnn Jenkins.
Survivors: sons: Doug (Wilma) Powell of Clinton, Billy Joe Powell of Oliver Springs; Daughters: Sue Fox and Judy Smith of Clinton; Grandchildren: Kathy (Jerry) Giles, Jeff (Dawn) Powell, J.D. Powell (with Shelly Davis), Angie Powell (with Bo Bowling), David (Sonja) Moore, James Moore, John (Tammy) Smith, and Kelli Smith (with Tyrone Irons)Great Grandchildren: Arron Hill, Justin Lance, Daniel Powell, Christopher Powell, Amanda Powell, Justin Powell, Randi Tutton, Dee Smith, Shemar Smith, Taya Smith, Michael Powell, Ken White, Greg Cox, Arron Larsen, Silas Moore, and Wesley Webb; 8 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Amedisys Home Health and Amedisys Hospice who provided excellent care during our mother's illness. Also, a special Thank You to Connie Reeves for her many visits and gifts. Thank you for all the prayers, and comforting words we have received during Moms journey to her eternal home. Mollie's family will receive her friends, Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 6-8pm with her funeral service at 8pm, all in the Chapel of Jones Mortuary, with Pastor Ronnie Buchanan officiating. Her interment will be Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton; TN. Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN is in charge of all arrangements.
